Nuclear Numbers

The Nuclear non-deal is quickly making the UPA (or whatever is left of it) a nuclear family. The N-deal might well be the costliest blunder for the Congress party, specifically. It badly underestimated the Left, and despite Amar…er.. Mulayam Singh’s reassurances, July 22 will likely be its Fall Day.

First, two interesting reports:

Countdown UPA: 4 MPs give Cong the headache: Their pound of flesh and all the assorted jazz.

JD(S) unlikely to support UPA in trust vote: Deve Gowda’s party has exactly 3 MPs, of which one is a “rebel” MP who will vote against.

As a consequence,

No regrets if Govt falls, save N-deal: Rahul: An amazingly idiotic way of being prepared to/assured of certain defeat in the trust vote. If the government falls, who the fuck will save the deal, and how? By the way, he offers some homemade nuggets on leadership:

“I also believe that you need guts to do it. I appreciate it. I would tell him (PM) to take the risk again, again and again. That is leadership.”

This is the mettle of the Prime Minister in waiting…

Amid this din, where is She who hath sacrificed her everything four years ago? She, who was described as the “third most powerful woman” on this planet?

And what is Rahul Gandhi’s place in the grand scheme of things?
